Come fly with me ♪... O del como me obsesioné con la serie Panam.
Vi los posters en la calle. "Hmmm se ve interesante, si me acuerdo la veré".
Vi los cortos en la tele, "¡Jesus! Ve nada más que bonita ropa!, debería de estarla viendo ya!"
Compré el primer episodio en iTunes, "¿Cómo es que me espere hasta ahora para ver esta serie?"
Saw the publicity on my daily commuting. "Hmmm it seems interesting, if I get a chance I'll see it"
Saw the previews on tv, "Wow! Look at those outfits!, I should really see it!"

Bought the first episode on iTunes, "How come I waited until now to see it?!"
Panam es una de esas series que tiene muchos encantos para mí.
En su tiempo vi las primeras dos temporadas de "Desperate Housewives" para entretenerme con los outfits de Gabrielle y la delicadeza y exageraciones de Bree. Igual con "La Niñera" me daba curiosidad ver con que atuendo saldría, y debo a aceptar que la trama también me gustaba bastante al grado de que vi la serie completita.
Los ejemplos de series y películas que me gustan y que disfruto en gran medida por los vestuarios de los personajes, son numerosos, pero el caso de Panam es punto y aparte.
Panam is of those series for a person like me has many charms. At the time, the first two seasons of "Desperate Housewives" keep my attention, always looking forward to see the latest look Gabrielle will be strutting, or just to be entertained by the delicadecy and exagerations of Bree. Before that, something similar happened to me with "The Nanny", but the plot on this show did kept me watching until it´s end, I would always enjoy watching Mrs. Fine and her outfits.
The examples of shows and movies that I like and enjoy because of the characters garments are many, but Panam in the moment is beyond that line.
Sin duda cada episodio de Panam esta repleto de delicias visuales, pero también está el encanto de ver representado el cambiante papel de la mujer en la fuerza laboral y todas las implicaciones sociales que el tener un trabajo como azafata en los años sesentas conllevaba.
Si esto lo aunamos a que desde corta edad yo reconocía mi gusto por viajar y que pasaba horas aspirando a conocer otras culturas y creencias, por lo que la primera ves que viaje en avión, a mis seis añitos; estaba convencida de que el trabajo de azafata representaba muchas ventajas y era, como la profesión de arqueologo, un trabajo de ensueño.
Every single episode of Panam is full of eye candy, but it´s also nice to see the representation of the changing role of women in the sixties, their new responsabilities and all the social implications of having a job as a stewardess in the Jet Age.
Add all the above to the fact that from an early age, I´ve recognize my passion for travelling, always looking forward to know other cultures and other beliefs. Which widely explains why at the tender age of 6 years old, the first time I travelled by plane, I was fully conviced that having a job as a stewardess -just as I thought of becoming an archaeologist - was a dream profession.
A la par de los capitulos de la serie, he visto los testimonios de las autenticas azafatas de Panam, en esta era de glamour y sofisticacion, en las que viajar en avion era un privilegio. Tiempos en los que la gente aun se ponia sus mejores atuendos para salir, las muejeres demostraban su delicadeza con sus guantes blancos, los hombres iban perfectamente bien peinados, y los niños eran un ejemplo de buenos modales.
Ahhhh! esos tiempos que no me toco vivir, pero que visto desde mi perspectiva parecieran ser mas civilizados, aclaro en ciertas convivencias, porque el racismo y la segregación no me parecen fenomenos en absoluto civilizados o aceptables.
Just like I´ve been following the episodes of Panam, I have also seen some of the testimonies from real Panam stewardess. I enjoy learning more about this time of sophistication and glamour, in which travelling by airplane was a privilege. Those times when people would actually travel in their best outfits, when ladies will wear gloves as delicate as their manners, when men would be perfectly groomed, and even children were a clear example of good manners and politeness.
Ohhh! those times that I didn´t get to live, but that seen from my perspective seemed to be way more civilized in certain circumstances, I repeat "certain cirumstances" since I do not agree with racism or segragation, both phenomena that I don´t see as civilized or aceptable.
En mis momentos de divagación más de una ves me he preguntado como habría sido mi vida en esa década, una cierta añoranza por tomar parte activa en el cambio de la sociedad en que se vive.
In my mental wandering, more than once I´ve asked myself how my life would have been if I had been a young woman in that time, you know, a certain longing to be active part of a changing society.
En fin, espero no salar la serie, y ruego porque no caigan en tramas demasiado telenovelescas. Por favor productores de Panam, mantengan la trama inteligente!... o al menos simple! jajaja
I wouldn´t like to jinx this serie, and I pray that it won´t fall in to that soap opera-like-plot. Please Panam, producers, keep it smart! Or at least simple!
